Partner Schools

The YTCA SCITT is passionate about working with schools who are committed to providing a warm, welcoming, encouraging and professional learning environment for our trainees. We only work with schools whose ethos and vision matches our own in terms of Initial Teacher Training.

The nature of the partnership, and the diverse range of experiences to which our trainees have access, is a key strength of our programme. The diverse range of settings include schools which are: non-denominational, suburban, semi-rural, or have a high percentage of free school meals, SEND pupils and EAL learners.

Each setting in which our trainee teachers learn has unique strengths which they bring to the Partnership enabling our trainee teachers to build a composite approach to become the best teacher that they can be. We work closely with key members of staff at each school to ensure our trainees receive the highest quality training.

School-Centred Initial Teacher Training Programme (Primary/Secondary QTS & PGCE)

On our year long ITT route through which we have now qualified over 100 teachers since 2014, the significant practice-based element works alongside high quality ‘core content’ which supports trainees to engage with educational theory and subject-specific knowledge and pedagogy to create the best possible learning and teaching opportunities for their students. Successful applicants to this route to QTS enjoy an exciting and fulfilling year through the many opportunities and rewarding challenges that the programme offers.

Assessment Only

The Assessment Only route to QTS is for candidates who have substantial teaching experience which enables them to already be able to demonstrate that they meet the Teachers’ Standards at a high level but who do not need the additional training that our ITT route offers.
